After nearly a decade in the Phoenix real estate market, we feel like we’ve heard it all! Questions that range from typical to not so typical, and we’re happy to answer each of them. And we thought it might be helpful to you too in case you have some similar questions.
Q: “Should I decorate my house for the holidays if it’s currently on the market?”
A: Absolutely! Deck those halls and toss that tinsel! Be sure to take your professional pictures before the decorations go up so potential buyers can see what the house looks like sans decorations.
Q: “What should I do before I list my house?”
A: First, clean! Clean out closets and cabinets – buyers like to look at every part of the home. After you clean out, clean up. Everything from windows to the yard, make that place shine!
When it comes to larger-scale work, like should you remodel the kitchen or update the bathroom? That’s a great question to ask your agent. An agent will be able to access what work a buyer would be looking for and the type of features that comparable homes are selling for in your area.
Q: “I think we’re ready to buy. What should we do first?”
A: Find an agent that you trust. There is a lot of detail that goes into buying a home and having an agent that you can depend on is a must! Next, if you aren’t prequalified, get prequalified. If you don’t already have a lender to work with, ask your agent for recommendations. They work with lenders frequently and know which ones will make the process smooth for you.
Q: ” Do I need to take down my family pictures?”
A: Tough as it may be, you really should. You want buyers picturing themselves in your home rather than picturing the family that currently lives there.
