Boone James was born on April 5, 2025, at 8 p.m. We're soaking up baby bliss.
We never thought we’d be comparing home buying to childbirth, but there’s a first time for everything.
Our family just welcomed Boone James into the world over the weekend and we couldn’t be happier. His arrival brings our family count to six and he made our daughter, Berkleigh, a big sister. God is good!
But, wow… the duration from start to finish was unpredictable!
Although I was induced, the labor itself wasn’t what we had imagined. Induction sounds like a fast pass to meet your baby, but for me, it made for a very long labor… Over 24 hours or sitting, waiting and some pushing.
The entire experience helped us realize that welcoming another child into the world actually feels very similar to buying [or selling] a home. Here’s why—
- The process is unpredictable. Quick and painless or long and laborious, there’s no right way. The end result—a healthy baby and mom—is most important. Similarly, regardless of what the market appears to be, buyers and sellers, alike, won’t know how the tides might turn because we live in an ever-changing market. So, buckle up!
- It’s important to have the right people by your side*. Just when you think you’re a few hours [or minutes] away from bliss, things change. What proves beneficial, in both scenarios, is having strong, reliable relationships. The things “your people” say and do will help you zero in on the endgame.
- The joy is worth the wait. Cuddle up with a newborn for .2 seconds and you’re likely to detach from the stress that previously inhabited your body. Huge thanks to oxytocin and endorphins, after giving birth [or enduring a wild ride through escrow], tension flees so you can enjoy the “fruits of your labor.” The same rules apply when thinking about enjoying a new home or putting profits to use after a successful sale.
We’re so grateful for Boone’s safe, yet lengthy labor. No hiccups nor unforeseen amount of time would keep us from praising God for his blessing. And, a huge thank you to all those who prayed for us before, during and after delivery. We feel so blessed.
